New England Product Trade Show News:

Two Vermont Products Win Best in Show at New England Products Tradeshow

Portland, ME -  Two Vermont products earned Best New Product awards at the 2006 New England Product Tradeshow in Portland, Maine.  Greene’s Gourmet Hoppin’ Hopi Hot Sauce and Rex’s Outrageous Asphalt Road Crew Crunch placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the Specialty Food Category, beating 39 other vendors in this category.  Chris Greene of Rutland and Daren ‘Rex’ Rexroad of Jericho were both new exhibitors to the New England Product Tradeshow.  Their booths were located side by side within the Vermont Specialty Foods Association’s pavilion at the show.  This is the first time in several years that a Vermont company has placed in the Best New Product contest

Greene’s Gourmet of Vermont has been producing specialty hot sauces for four years with a product line of five hot sauces.  The winning entry, Hoppin’ Hopi is a zesty green sauce that combines the taste of fresh jalapenos with fresh horseradish root, tomatillos, lime juice and garlic cloves, for a taste that's hard to match.

Rex’s Outrageous Road Crew Crunch appeared on the market in January of 2006 and is an addicting blend of peanuts, pretzels and cereal drenched in four different types of chocolate.  The winning entry was a mix smothered in dark chocolate called Asphalt.  Rex’s Outrageous’ road crew theme was evident throughout his eye-catching display and included Rex donning a yellow hardhat and florescent orange safety vest.

Both companies manufacture their products at the Vermont Food Venture Center in Fairfax and are also members of the Vermont Specialty Foods Association.  The association is made up of small to large Vermont food businesses who all share the same philosophy of providing the consumer with a fabulous specialty food.  For more information about VSFA or its members including Greene’s Gourmet and Rex’s Outrageous, visit www.vermontspecialtyfoods.org

The 22nd annual New England Product Trade Show is a business-to-business wholesale trade show featuring a juried selection of giftware, home furnishings and specialty food from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
